FRANCES ELEANOR EDWARDS (NESTIBO)

In the presence of all her children, our dear Mom went home to be with her Lord on July 10, 2025. She was 92 years old. Mom was born on her parents farm south of Goodlands on June 26, 1933. She was the 6th child of her parents, John and Sophia (Haugo) Nestibo. Her Dad was born in Norway, and her mom in Bottineau, ND. Mom loved to be known as a true Norwegian. She had five older siblings, Ted (Margaret) Nestibo, Sig (Katy) Nestibo, Evelyn (Murray) Cavers, Bernice (Gordon) Thompson, and Harold (Audrey) Nestibo.

Faith was the cornerstone of Mom’s life. As a devoted Christian, she lived out her unwavering commitment to Jesus Christ. One of the special things Mom had was how she made people feel when they were around her. She had this wonderful grace that she could make people feel that what they had to say or do, was important. She was devoted to helping people through tough times. She would pick up people and sometimes even some kids from the community, and take them to church, or deliver some freshly made buns to someone she thought needed them at that time, whether she knew them or not. Mom loved God and she loved people. She was an ordinary lady doing extra ordinary things with God’s help. Along with the 7 children, (she had in less than 10 years), Mom was very active in her community and her own life. She was pro-active in starting the figure skating club in Goodlands, worked in the kitchen of the church for any and all functions they had there, always baking for the Turtle Mountain Bible Camp, things she didn’t want to be recognized for, and followed her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren around to watch their particular sports, cooked meals for lots of men in the field, along with all of us kids who were there, and in later years, still making big meals for lots whenever Dad would decide to invite the whole family in for supper and then tell her. She loved everyone being together, Something Mom had in common with Dad, the more the merrier.

Mom married our Dad, Howard Edwards of Medora, Mb. on April 23, 1952. They celebrated 70 years together 3 months before Dad passed away on July 30, 2022. They both will be lovingly remembered by their 7 children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews, each of whom she had a special bond with. This was her legacy. Daughter, Diane Hainsworth (Angie - Dwane Brosseau: Hudson and Callum); Son, Duane - Anne (Erica - Matt Beck: Margot; James; and Landon); Son, Jimmy (passed away at 8 months old); Daughter, Donna - Clark Tweed (Jeremi - Carrie: Delani, Camryn, Kinlee, and Maven; Robyn - Rolly Richard: Quinlan, Liam, Autumn, and Taiya); Son, Jack - Claudene (Caryn Waldon - Jeff Cassan: Emry, Norah, Nevin Cassan, Sophia Waldon; Jeffrey - Ellary: Blaire; and Marc); Son, Philip - Michelle (Conner, Madison and Jack Vermeersch, Carlee and Mike Dietsch, Kenzie and Tanner Ardron); Son, Bradley - Jenie (Gerald Domodon, Geoffrey: Eden and Milo; Jamie-Lynn - Jess Leadbeater: Mackayla, Sawyer, and Brynn).

Mom was predeceased by her husband, Howard, their son Jimmy (1956 at 8 most old), daughter-in-law Bambi, grandson Mitchell, grandson-in-law Bryce, granddaughter-in-law Kahyun, great-grandson Baxton, her parents, her parents-in-law, Jim and Jessie Edwards, all of her siblings and their spouses, along with all of Dad’s siblings and their spouses. Her and Dad were the last two surviving members of the twenty in that generation of our family, so they had experienced lots of sadness. Now we have the memories and pictures of the fun times we had with all our family, and of course our wonderful cousins to help us through this sad time.

We will miss you Mom, but we know we will meet again.

  • Unbeknown to me, I met your Grandma at a church event. She was a sweet, kind and lovely lady. You are blessed to have such a legacy ancestor. - Posted by: Linda Sitter (for Jamie-Lynne from Karina's aunt) on: Sep 03, 2025
