ROBERT GORDON HAMILTON

Gordon Hamilton passed away peacefully at the Notre Dame Foyer on September 4, 2025, at the age of 82 years.

He is survived by his children, Cliff (Holly), Rob and Kristin; his grandchildren, Liam, Celeste, Abbey and Shiloh as well as by his sister Marilyn Booth (Don Carpenter) and nephews, Andrew Booth (Glendy Wong) and Rob Booth and great-niece Megan. He was predeceased by his parents Earl Hamilton and Amelia (nee Lee).

Gordon was born in Grandview, Manitoba and attended a two-room country schoolhouse, Tamarisk School, sometimes using a horse and sleigh or buggy to get to school. After his Grade 12 year at Grandview Collegiate, he attended the University of Manitoba and achieved a Bachelor of Science degree in 1964. He went on to work in the University of Manitoba's Department of Agriculture, then worked in the pig barns at the Research Centre in Brandon for Agriculture Canada before transitioning to their computer services department, where he stayed until he retired in the mid 2000s.

Outside of work, Gordon enjoyed reconnecting with family at family reunions and through visits with his aunts, uncles, and cousins, a number of them in the Grandview area. Having grown up on a farm, he never fully gave up on his rural roots, frequently going on rural drives and visiting the farm of a co-worker. Throughout his life, Gordon enjoyed reading, photography, gardening, and nature; he still maintained his interest in computers and operating systems into his later years. He enjoyed visits with his grandchildren and his phone calls with his sister in Ottawa, along with her return trips to Manitoba.

Special thank you to the staff at the Notre Dame Foyer (Chez Nous unit) and the nurses at the Notre Dame Hospital.

A private family service will be held at the Tamarisk Cemetery in Grandview, Manitoba.
