SHIRLEY (NORMA) NAVID

(nee MCLAUGHLIN)

January 5, 1941 - August 6, 2025

It is with great sadness to share that Norma peacefully passed away with family by her side on August 6, 2025, at the St. Pierre Hospital at the age of 84.

Norma will be deeply missed by her children, Brenda (Roger) and Rick; grandchildren, Daniel (Gillian), Jason (Ashley), Taylor (David) and Chesty; her great-grandson Luc, as well as her stepchildren, Glen (Lee), Larry, Kirk (Karisma), Rena, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Norma leaves behind her siblings, Irma, Audrey, Bruce, Gladys and Gordon, along with countless extended family and dear friends whose lives she touched.

Norma was predeceased by her first husband Ronald Gladden, second husband Rudy Navid, stepson Richard Navid, along with her parents, Jack and Regina, and siblings, Evelyn, Margaret, Ruth, Russell, Donald, Edie and Gerald.

Norma and Rudy were married on January 26, 1991 and shared many wonderful years together living in and around the Brandon, MB area. They most enjoyed spending time outdoors whether it be camping, tending to their yard, or ice fishing with family.

After Rudy's passing, Norma moved to Niverville to be closer to her loved ones. Her days were filled with simple joys - baking, working on puzzles, shopping, enjoying time at Roger and Brenda's trailer, and visiting with family regularly. Norma was always up for a good card game, especially Canasta, which she loved to play with friends and family. Norma especially cherished the moments she spent with her great-grandson Luc. Their bond was a source of joy and comfort, and even as her health declined, his presence could brighten her entire day.

The family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to the staff of St. Pierre Hospital for the compassionate care they provided during Norma's final weeks. A special thanks to Marni and the home care team from Southern Health for their care and attention.

In keeping with Norma's wishes, cremation has taken place. A private graveside service will be held at a later date to honour and celebrate her life. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
