CWO (Master Gunner) William (Bill) Wayne Noseworthy, of Cottonwoods, passed away peacefully in his home on November 11, 2025. He was 78.
Born on October 30, 1947, in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Bill was the third child of Alexander (Alec) James and Lillian May Noseworthy. Growing up, Bill spent time with his five siblings, served as an alter boy in his local church, and kept busy working various jobs in his neighbourhood. Seeking adventure beyond his hometown, Bill joined the Canadian Armed Forces in 1964.
While training overseas, Bill met Ursula Parke of Germany. They married in 1971. Together, they raised two children: Lilian, and William (Will).
Bill served with Canadian Armed Forces in the Royal Canadian Artillery. Described as a dedicated and outspoken career soldier, Bill was described as having genuine compassion for those in his charge. Highlights of his career included two UN peacekeeping tours, his tenure as Regimental Sergeant Major of 3 RCHA, and his appointment to the Order of Military Merit in 1994.
Bill was a great cook and a consummate host. He showed his love and appreciation for his friends and family by feeding them well and ensuring their glasses were never empty. Over the years, he enjoyed hunting with his friends, fishing with his grandsons, and puttering on his acreage upon his retirement. Most recently, he became a great-grandfather to Emery and Gwendolyn.
Bill was a part of the organizing committee of the Artillery Reunions at C.F.B. Shilo, a member of the Shilo Men’s Club, and an active parishioner of St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Wawanesa. It was not uncommon to see his dining room table full of items he had purchased for Brandon Christmas Cheer and other local charities.
He is survived by his daughter, Lilian (Steven) Trowbridge, son Will (Wayne) Noseworthy, grandsons Adam (Jamie) Trowbridge and Marcus (Ashley Collins) Trowbridge, and great-granddaughters Emery and Gwendolyn, sister Yvonne Noseworthy, brother David (Pat) Noseworthy, brother Gary (Gladys) Noseworthy, and sister-in-law Yvonne Noseworthy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alexander and Lillian, his wife, Ursula, sister Betty Feltham, brother-in-law Lou (Lawrence) Feltham, and brother Alec Noseworthy.
A Celebration of Bill’s Life will take place at the Wawanesa Centennial Hall, 202 4th Street, Wawanesa, on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. with Chris Evetts officiating. Interment will follow at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation or Soldier On.
