LESLIE FLORENCE DZOGAN

(DE LEEUW, nee ROBERTS)

December 9, 1948 – January 3, 2026

It is with profound sadness that the family of Leslie Dzogan announces her passing on January 3, 2026, with her loving husband at her side.

Leslie was the first-born to the late Les Roberts and the late Thelma Parker (Roberts, nee Parkin) and adored her younger sisters, Catherine and Laura. Leslie reflected fondly on growing up in Winnipeg's Norberry district with summers spent at the family cottage at Toniata Beach on Falcon Lake.

While a student at the University of Winnipeg in 1968, Leslie secured a summer job as a flight attendant (then called "stewardess") with Air Canada. That summer job turned into a 25-year career that had her travel widely while based initially in Toronto and then for the bulk of her career, in Winnipeg. In 1974, Leslie married Marcel De Leeuw. Their daughter Reagan was born in 1979. Following their divorce, Leslie continued her career while raising her daughter.

In 1986, Leslie met Ken Dzogan, a Passenger Agent with Air Canada, who had long admired her from afar. They soon proved to be soulmates, married in 1994 and embarked on a nearly 40-year romance that took them to the Greater Victoria area and then to Brandon, with side trips to Montreal, Moncton and Halton Hills in the GTA. In addition to their flying vacations, Leslie enjoyed their many driving excursions, whether a daytrip from Halton Hills to Niagara-On-The-Lake (one of her favorite destinations) or a journey through the mountains en route to grandkids in Langley, B.C. As someone who spent summer vacations at the cottage, she found driving vacations a welcome novelty.

Leslie's engaging personality and fearless sociability had her quickly chatting with strangers, whether in line at the grocery store or at the next table at some roadside café. She didn't have to know you long before she'd tell you about her Vicyncia Chadwick persona. In Brandon, her home for the past 24 years, Leslie found friends at Aquafit classes, soaked up knowledge while auditing courses at Brandon University, fed her love of music by taking in the Clear Lake Chamber Music Festival, enjoying Augustfest and subscribing to the Pro-Series Concerts. She was a long-time volunteer at the Commonwealth Air Training Plan Museum Gift Shop and enjoyed the company of her dear friends at Brandon Seniors For Seniors, whether hopping and bopping through an exercise class, packing buns or desserts for their lunch program or savouring a delicious Friday Out To Lunch offering. Leslie was a devoted Brandon Wheat Kings fan and held season tickets for 20 years.

More recently, vascular dementia along with Alzheimer's Disease robbed Leslie of the joy she could share with others but could not diminish the love they have for her. Leslie is survived by her husband Ken; sisters, Catherine (Bob) and Laura (Mac); sisters-in-law Jan (Les) and Sandy; daughter Reagan; stepson Ted (Sharla); stepdaughter Colleen; grandchildren Edan, Aleena and Kane; dearest cousin (more of a big sister) Barbara (Dave); nephews Stuart (Regan), Graham (Courtney) and Carson (Elly); great-niece Alena; and cousins from the Roberts and Parkin families. Leslie's family recognizes and appreciates the compassion and care shown to Leslie by the wonderful paramedics, physicians, nurses, aides and attendants who cared for her at the Brandon Regional Health Centre and Assiniboine Centre.

Cremation has occurred. A Celebration Of Life will be announced at a future date.

  • Leslie was my first friend. At five years old our mothers got us to walk together to kindergarten. I remember Leslie telling me she had pink wings in her drawer at home and would fly around with them. I, of course, did not believe her, but she insisted again and again. I got a laugh when I heard she was a flight attendant flying around the world. Leslie and I hooked up again 30 years later when she got involved in a woman's fashion business I was managing. That was the last time I saw her. My birthday is November 9th 1948 and her's one month later. Just this past December 9th I wished Leslie a happy birthday. I have remembered every year. I cried reading her obituary. How sad. I would love to attend the celebration of life. Cathy please let me know the details. So sorry for your loss. - Posted by: Patricia Darling - Powell (Long time friend) on: Jan 10, 2026

  • So sad to read of Leslie’s death. I remember her so fondly from the days of our youth. We had such fun and also our share of heartaches in our teens. We saw each other once again in 1997 for a grand lunch in Victoria, and alas, that was the last time. Condolences to all who loved her. - Posted by: Alison Preston (Friend) on: Jan 10, 2026
