Suzanne Pauline Campion (Deremiens) (nee Brausse), of Sandy Lake Personal Care Home, beloved mother of Anna Marie (deceased), Judy, Michael, and Nelson, left us Monday January 12, 2026 at 85 years of age.
Suzanne was born in Souris, Manitoba to William and Marie Brausse (Usunier) in August 1940. Mom was the oldest of seven children, they lived on the farm in Finlay, Manitoba. Mom met and married Maurice Gabriel Deremiens in her late teens. She moved to their farm in Belleview, and followed that up shortly by the birth of her four children. Mom became a widow on March 27, 1967. She picked herself up and moved her family to Souris. She met and married Ken Campion a few years later and moved to Pipestone to start her new family life. Happily ever after was not to be, so she moved her family to Virden where she worked at the Gulf Restaurant. After Virden, a short stay in Morden, Manitoba mom and Nelson moved to Airdrie, Alberta to be close to her eldest daughter and Suzanne’s brothers and sister. She eventually moved to Calgary to be closer to her grandchildren, and daughter during her illness. Mom found her way back to Brandon, Manitoba where she lived happily until dementia came to take her memories… and memory. She lived independently at Victory Landing (thank you for all your support, you know who you are!!) until September 2024, after a fall landed her in hospital and then placed at Sandy Lake Personal Care Home, where she was able to settle and relax until her final days.
Mom had a very strong work ethic and was proud to make her own way to support her family. She loved all the jobs she did from restaurant work, moving up to hostess at the CP hotel in Calgary, to manufacturing parts in a Tupperware and Westinghouse plant, a caretaker of an apartment building, retail work, to her final job as customer service agent for Greyhound Bus Lines. Mom’s greatest loves were her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her siblings. Her passions were gardening and most of all dancing. Mom loved to dance, and enjoyed all the friends she made along the way. In her younger years she loved to play baseball and curled as well.
Mom is survived by her children, daughter Judy (Dean ) Larkin, Michael Deremiens, Nelson (Lynne) Deremiens, son-in-law Kevin Pyett, grandchildren, Garrett Deremiens, Kara Lee Deremiens (Jason Milne) Corey Pyett, Katelyn Deremiens, Deedra Deremiens (Danny Beddome), Ashley Deremiens, and Gregory Deremiens; great-grandchildren, Colby Deremiens, Xavier, Tiberius, and Rigel Milne , Brother Ed (Jeannie); sisters, Evelyn (Phil) Brooke, Irene Brausse (Peter Pelikan), Brothers Ivan (Wendy) Brausse, Cory (Wanda) Brausse, sister in law Yvonne Deremiens; all her nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
Mom was predeceased by her husband, Maurice Gabriel Deremiens, Maurice’s parents, Maurice’s brother Cyril , and Denise Deremiens , and sister Genevieve and Marcel Barre, brother-in-law Gilbert Deremiens, daughter Anna Marie (Annie) Pyett; her, parents William and Marie Brausse, and brother Herbie Brausse.
A Celebration of Life for Suzanne will be held at a later date with interment at Virden Cemetery.
For those who so desire, memorial tributes may be made to Alzheimer’s Society of Manitoba or Sandy Lake Personal Care Home.
Our family would like to acknowledge and thank the wonderful staff on A3 of the Assiniboine Centre , and the staff at Sandy Lake Personal Care Home for their kindness, compassion and love they shared with mom and our family.
