THOMAS BOYD DOBSON

August 16, 1938 - February 19, 2026

Personal Care Home on February 19, 2026 at the age of 87 years.

Tom will be missed by his wife of 64 years Lenore, his daughter Tracy, Son Kelly (Joanne) and his two grandchildren Jenna and Noah. Tom was predeceased by his parents Ernest and Jean and survived by his brother Brent. He will also be remembered by extended family and friends.

Tom was born in the rural municipality of Glenwood Manitoba and spent his working life farming in the Fairfax community starting when he was a young boy. Tom was active within agriculture for most of his career; first as 4H leader and then as a director in the earliest days of the Canola Council of Canada. Tom took a keen interest in ag policy, attending countless conferences including becoming a lifetime member of the Western Canadian Wheat Growers. Tom’s keen interest in all things agriculture created many cherished friendships and connections. As a lifelong learner and early adopter, Tom was the 1958 Manitoba 4H Seed Champion, graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Diploma of Agriculture in 1960, started a pedigreed seed cleaning business, raised sheep and fed cows. Tom followed grain markets with Telidon in the mid 70’s and bought his first computer in 1980 for farm financial record keeping.

Tom and Lenore left the farm in 2000, splitting their time between Pelican Lake, Souris and Victoria. Tom spent his retired life supervising farm operations from a distance, watching Blue Jays games, and visiting with lifelong friends.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of life was held on Monday February 23, 2026, at the St Paul’s United Church Auditorium in Souris Manitoba. In lieu of flowers, donation to the Souris Personal Care Home Activities Fund would be appreciated.

The family would like to express our appreciation and thanks for the wonderful care he received from Dr. Cram and the staff of the Souris Personal Care Home. Their commitment to Tom’s care was extraordinary.

In fields of gold, the farmer toils,

With hands of strength, he turns the soils.

Beneath the sun, his dreams take flight,

A harvest rich, a future bright.

Rest easy you will be missed.
