It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Geraldine Faye Parker of Onanole, Manitoba, on April 27, 2026, at the age of 71, in Minnedosa Hospital, surrounded by family and friends.
She was born in Hamiota, Manitoba, on August 9, 1954, and was the only child of Grace and Marcus Fitzgerald. She grew up in Birtle, Manitoba, and had many cherished memories of visiting family in Texas.
Geraldine (Gerri) was predeceased by her parents, Grace (Morrison) and Marcus Fitzgerald, and her in-laws, Ruth (McKay) and Arthur Parker. She is survived by her loving husband, Craig Parker; her children, Darcy (Brandie) Parker and Gillian (Cody) Nernberg; her grandchildren, Bode and Felix Parker, and Kaden, Kai, and Nya Nernberg; her sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Garry Streich; and her nieces, Shauna (Michael) Guertin and Susan (Keith) McCambridge.
Craig and Gerri were married in Birtle, Manitoba on August 6, 1977. Gerri dedicated 35 years to teaching, a career she truly loved and in which she found great joy. After retiring from Ste. Rose School, she and Craig embraced the years that followed, traveling often with family and friends and creating lasting memories. They cherished their winters in Palm Springs, where Gerri delighted in golfing, hiking, shopping, and taking long, peaceful walks.
Her greatest joy in life was her grandchildren. She poured her heart into every moment with them - creating summer camps and special activities, swimming, baking, and spending countless hours building Lego creations side by side. She welcomed every adventure they imagined with enthusiasm and love.
Gerri was the heart of her family, known for her exceptional cooking, her kindness, her gentle and easygoing spirit, and her beautiful quilting. Her strength, her passion for life, and her deep, unwavering love for her family will continue to inspire all who knew her.
She was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished Grandma/Nana, and dear friend who will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched.
There is no funeral service planned. A celebration of Gerri’s life will be held at a later date.
