TOM LEHMAN

It is with pronounced sadness and much love we announce the passing of Tom Lehman of Brandon, Manitoba, Canada. He departed this life peacefully after a courageous battle with dementia, on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at 10:18 a.m. on the fourth floor of Brandon Regional Health Centre within the Assiniboine ward. Thank you to all the amazing staff of the hospital for making his last day’s comfortable and peaceful.

Tom was born on the farm in Mayfair, Saskatchewan on April 16, 1946. Eldest son of August and Edna Lehman. Growing up on the farm with his 13 siblings, Tom loved to work and was a natural, hard-working human who learned his pride and work ethic from the numerous chores and work on the farm.

Tom left the farm at the tender age of 17 in 1963, looking for work in Flin Flon; where he began working in the bush for a pipeline company; from here, Tom worked in the Hudson Bay mine.

In Flin Flon in 1964, when Joyce was 16 and on holidays, Tom met the love of his life. They later married on May 4, 1968, living in Creighton, Saskatchewan and apprenticing to become a millwright. On June 25, 1973, Tom and Joyce celebrated the birth of their only child, Shawn Lehman. They eventually settled in Brandon Manitoba in October of 1977, where Tom accepted a position with Hooker Chemicals, retiring from the plant in May of 2009.

Tom was very active. He worked out every morning into his sixties and still managed a morning walk every day up to his late seventies. His sports interest gleaned from his son’s activities. Tom coached Shawn soccer, helped coach with baseball, watched every game and practice of Shawn’s hockey career and then did the same for Logan, his grandson, watching and attending every football and hockey practice and game. Tom attended every one of his granddaughters’, Dara and Marley’s activities from dance, recitals, to gymnastics, to volleyball, soccer, and basketball. He was an active presence in his family’s lives. He taught his son the importance and meaning of Family First.

To his family and close friends, he was known for his loyalty, sense of humor, quick wit, pride in family, work ethic, and honesty. He enjoyed attending Wheat King Games, curling, golfing, and snowmobiling with his buddies. He golfed once a week with his son while he was able. He was the first guy to call if you needed help building a fence, moving, fixing something.

He leaves behind a beautiful legacy and is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Joyce, his son Shawn, grandson, Logan, and granddaughters, Dara and Marley; four sisters: Darlene (Irvin) Unrau, Joan Prall, Lois Towpich, Lorna (Russell) Buziak; seven brothers: Jerry (Liz) Lehman, Jim (Dorothy) Lehman, John (Brenda) Lehman, Doug (Michelle) Lehman, Quenton (Heather) Lehman, Dale Lehman, Earl (Mary Anne) Lehman, brother in law – Don Roskewich, numerous nephews, nieces and a host of friends.

Predeceased by his parents, August and Edna Lehman, brother Robert Lehman, sister Joyce Roskewich, nephew Curtis Lehman and niece Tori Towpich, as well as brothers in law, Marvin Prall, Orest Towpich, and sister-in-law, Maxine Lehman.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 29, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Augustine’s of Canterbury Roman Catholic Church at 327 4th Street, Brandon
