Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLIAM MCCLURE THOMAS October 4, 1924 - September 14, 2005 It is with sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our brother and uncle, William (Bill) McClure Thomas. With grace and peace, Bill passed at the Percy E. Moore Hospital in Hodgson, MB, on Wednesday, September 14. Bill is survived by his only loving sister, Winnifred Spence; also surviving him are many nieces and nephews and special grandniece Heather Stevenson. Bill was predeceased by his parents, Harry and Margaret Thomas; brothers, John, Clifford, James, Stanley, Orton, Ken, Melville, Rodney and Allan. Bill was born on the Peguis Reserve, on October 4, 1924. Bill attended Birtle Residential School and retired from the federal government's old Department of Employment and Immigration in 1978. In the fall of 1978, he returned to the old farm homestead on Peguis Reserve where he lived until 2004. In the fall of 2004, he moved to the Peguis Personal Care Home where he resided until his demise. Uncle Bill loved animals especially cats and dogs. He spent his time gardening, reading and completing crossword puzzles. Uncle Bill was an avid hockey fan and enjoyed watching the NHL hockey games as well as community hockey. For a time, he loved to play bingo with his Sweet Marie who predeceased him in 1998. The family thanks the staff at the Peguis Personal Care Home and the Percy E. Moore Hospital for their kindness and professional but gentle care. Four things a man must do, if he would make his record true. To think without confusion, clearly. To love his fellow man sincerely. To act from honest motives purely. To trust in God and Heaven securely Henry Van Dyke Prayer service will be held at the Peguis Personal Care Home on Sunday, September 18 at 6:00 p.m. with wake service to follow at 8:00 p.m. at the St. Matthew's Anglican Church, Peguis, MB.
