VERA CAROLINE RAPSON (nee TWEEDY) The death of Vera Caroline Rapson took place September 1, 2005 at her residence, Central Park Lodge, Brandon, MB. Vera was born August 5, 1911 in Cardiff, Wales, the third child and only daughter of Alfred George Tweedy and Emily Caroline Wright. On the death of her father she immigrated to Swan River, MB in 1916 together with her mother and two brothers. Some years later the family moved to The Pas, MB and still later to Flin Flon, MB, where Vera worked for many years as a legal secretary for the lawyer Donald Ross. On her marriage to Sheldon Rapson in 1953 she moved to Lynn Lake, MB and remained there until 2003 when she came to Brandon to live at Central Park Lodge. A great animal and music lover, she taught piano lessons in Lynn Lake until well into her eighties and was, for many years, the organist at St. Simon's Anglican Church. She was predeceased by her father in Algeria in 1912; her mother in The Pas in 1956; her stepfather Robert Brooksby in The Pas in 1941; her husband in Lynn Lake in 1967 and her brothers, Alfred Cyril Tweedy and Eric Tweedy. Vera is survived by her two children, Donna and Dwight Rapson and by nieces and nephews. Burial has taken place in The Pas, MB cemetery.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • I live in Fort Sask, Alta where there are a few ex-Lynn Lake people. I was there from 66-69 and knew a lot of people, nice to see that she gave so much to the community. Wondered where Donna and Dwight ended up. So your mom was blessed with a great life, there are those of us who like to remember all of you. - Posted by: Victor Laird (Family) on: Oct 15, 2005
