DR. RACHO RACHEV Dr. Racho Rachev passed away at Stonewall Hospital on November 3, 2005, at the age of 92 years. He is survived by his wife Ilona; daughter Julie (Vancouver); son Dimitar (Stonewall); granddaughter Kristina (Vancouver), grandson Kristian (Vancouver); nephew Boris Ganchev (Calgary). He was predeceased by his sister Tsanka (Bulgaria). He was born in Bulgaria, studies and graduated from the University of Sofia and received his degree in Veterinary Medicine. He met his wife Ilona in Hungary and later immigrated to Canada in 1951. The family lived in Hamilton for a short time and then moved to Stonewall, MB, in 1955, where he practiced veterinary medicine, covering the entire Interlake area as far north as Gypsumville, Arborg, Teulon, etc. He was semi-retired in the early 1970s and then also worked at real estate, finally retiring in the early 1980s. He enjoyed attending events at the Canadian Legion of which he became a member and did so until becoming afflicted with Alzheimer's Disease. He is very sadly missed by his family. Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 7 at 3:00 p.m. at the MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Stonewall. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society.
