RAOUL (RALPH) POIRIER July 11,1915 - December 14, 2005 Peacefully, on Wednesday, December 14, 2005, Raoul Ralph Poirier passed away at the Victoria Hospital. Predeceased by his wife Gertrude on August 6, 2004, Raoul leaves to mourn him two sons, Robert and Bernard Berny and his wife Marie and grandchildren, Ronald, Natalie and Valerie. Raoul was the last of his generation, predeceased by his father Azarie in 1918 when he was only three, his mother Melanie in 1978, his sister Cecile in 1994 and all of his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Born in St. Boniface on July 11, 1915, Raoul attended Provencher School. As the man of the family, he started work as a young boy delivering newspapers and working in various neighbourhood grocery stores. In 1935 Ralph started at City Dairy, delivering milk with a horse and wagon. Over the years he adapted to the many changes that were ushered in to the industry, retiring from Silverwood Dairies in 1982 at the dawn of the computerized order processing era. On June 7, 1949, Raoul married the love of his life, Gertrude Pelletier and together they raised their family in the Norwood area. Dad and Mom enjoyed several trips to Florida and British Columbia and in later years following retirement, to Saskatoon to visit the grandchildren. Dad was a quiet and gentle soul who was well liked by all who crossed his path. We will miss him greatly. The family wishes to thank the staff at Victoria Hospital for their care and attention to Dad's needs as well as Audrey and Dr. Jean Prenovault of Windsor Park Medical Clinic. Special thanks to his angel Wendy Hoffman for her weekly visits that meant so much to Dad. Funeral mass will take place on Monday, December 19 at 10:30 a.m. at Precious Blood/L'Eglise Precieux-Sang, 200 Kenny St. (St. Boniface). Rev. Fr. Isaie Blanchette, o.m.i. will preside. Viewing will take place half an hour prior to the service. Entombment will follow in Holy Angel Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Manitoba Lung Association, 2nd Floor, 629 Bannatyne Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3A 1P6. GREEN ACRES Funeral Home and Cemetery Hwy.
