KAETHE NEUDORF It is with much sadness that the family of Kaethe Neudorf announces her passing at the age of 77 years on Monday, January 30, 2006 at St. Boniface General Hospital. After a long battle with cancer, she died peacefully with family members at her side. She is survived by her dear husband of 55 years, Jakob Neudorf and their children, Hildi (Jascha) Boge, Erica (Willy) Martens, Ursula (Bob) Betker, Adiena (Rudy) Loewen, Jake (Denise) Neudorf, Vic (Barb) Neudorf, Ingrid (Tim) Hiebert, Harvey (Stacy Douglas) Neudorf and 25 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She is survived by two brothers, Otto Klassen and Jakob (Agatha) Klassen. She was predeceased by her parents, Bernhard and Katharina Klassen and three brothers, Bernhard, Peter, Jacob and one sister Anna Geddert. Kaethe was born on October 12, 1928 in Schoeneberg, southern Ukraine. She was raised in a home that was deeply rooted in a faith in God. She was 8 years old when her father passed away and mother began to depend on her for many chores around the house. As a teenager she experienced the turbulent years of the Second World War. The move to Paraguay in 1947 and later to Brazil was a time of transition from the difficult years in Europe. In 1948, Kaethe was baptized upon the confession of her faith. Deeply grounded in this faith, she modelled a gentle and caring walk of life. In 1950, Kaethe and Jakob Neudorf were married in Paraguay, and soon after moved to Brazil. The last major move was to Canada in 1958. She and her husband managed to provide a comfortable home for their growing family. Their children growing up, getting married and the growing family of grandchildren and great-grandchildren gave her a great sense of satisfaction. She radiated care and a wonderful sense of hospitality. If you dropped in at lunch time, there always would be an extra plate for the visitor. When the world around her seemed to crumble, she was courageous and remained strong in her faith for which we, her husband and children, owe her much thanks. Although Kaethe had earned top grades in school, nothing surpassed her excellence as a mother. WE LOVE YOU MOM! The family would like to extend a special Thank You to the staff and doctors of the Palliative Care Unit of St. Boniface General Hospital for their care and compassion. Also Thank You to all those who kept Kaethe in their prayers. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 3 at the North Kildonan Mennonite Brethren Church, 1315 Gateway Rd., with viewing prior to the service. In her memory, donations may be made to the Mennonite Central Committee. FRIENDS FUNERAL SERVICE - 339-5555
