Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGRANT WALLACE (WALLY) NORMAN Peacefully, on Thursday, February 9, 2006, Grant Wallace Wally Norman died at the Riverview Health Centre, at the age of 80 years. Remaining to cherish his memory are his wife; sons; and beloved grandchildren, Gray, Savannah and Chase. He will be sadly missed by all. Wally was born on March 4, 1925, in Swift Current, SK to Donovan Norman and Ruth Norman (nee Wallace). He graduated from high school and in 1943, at the young age of 18, went overseas with the Royal Regina Rifles - 12th Artillery and played his part in the liberation of Holland during the Second World War. Upon his return to Canada in 1946, he started what would become a long successful career with CP Rail, working his way up the ranks from fireman, to engineman, to road foreman, eventually achieving the level of director before retiring in 1985. On June 21, 1952, Wally married Oriel Audrey Norman in Moose Jaw, SK. They had two children, Donovan Allan Norman, born February 17, 1963 and Lance Alexander Norman, born September 25, 1965. After living in Moose Jaw, Winnipeg and Montreal, the couple returned to Wally's favourite city, Winnipeg, in 1991. Together, they enjoyed a long happy marriage and celebrated their 54th and final anniversary on June 21, 2005. He lived his life with courage, honesty and kindness. Wally's generosity and kind heart were an inspiration to everyone that knew him. In retirement, he practiced his faith as a witness to Jehovah and enjoyed time with family and friends. Sadly, on February 9, 2006, he succumbed after a short battle with cancer. On Wednesday, February 15 at 7:00 p.m., Wally's funeral service will be held in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 227 Lakewood Blvd., Winnipeg, MB. Special thanks to the doctors and staff at Health Sciences Centre and Riverview Health Centre, 3E. John 5:28,29 the hour is coming in which all those in memorial tombs will hear His voice and come out, those who did good things, to a resurrection of life.
