HERBERT MERTON PURSLOW March 27, 1918 - February 3, 2006 Mert Purslow passed away peacefully at The Golden Door Geriatric Centre on Friday, February 3, 2006, at the age of 87 years. Having lived the majority if his life in Fort Garry, he will be sadly missed by his many friends and family. Mert joined the Royal Winnipeg Rifles in 1939 and was stationed in Hamilton, Ontario, where he served until 1945. At the end of the war he moved back to Winnipeg and attended the University of Manitoba where he graduated with a B.A. in Architecture. His signature can still be seen on many of the buildings he helped design and construct in Winnipeg. Mert will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 64 years, Agnes Nan Purslow (Ferguson); and his two sons, Bruce (Elis) and Neil (Frances). Mert was predeceased by his two daughters, Noreen Smith (Don) and Dale Lamirande (Roger). He will be missed by his ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Mert was the eldest of three children and is survived by his brother Bernard (Flora); and sister Joan (Allen). Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at Chapel Lawn on Wednesday, February 15, 2006, at 12:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Mert's memory to the charity of your choice.
