NICHOLAS POHRAN, M.D. Passed away on Thursday, February 2, 2006 at the Greater Niagara General Hospital in his 81st year. Dr. Pohran, beloved husband of Colleen Sadler. Loving father of Sonya (James) Watson of Winnipeg, John (Cynthia) Pohran of Ottawa, Alexandra (Russell) Dawkins of Victoria, Margaret Khomenko of Toronto, Christopher (Abbey) Pohran of Calgary and Donna Pohran of Fonthill. Dear grandfather of Kevin, Andrew, Gene, Kathryn, Nigel, Nadya, Jason, Klim, Simon, Alannah and Kelley. Brother of Nadya (the late Theodore) McCart of Brampton. Predeceased by his parents John and Anastasia Pohranychny. Dr. Pohran was born in Ukraine in 1925. He later went on to graduate from McMaster University in 1946 and McGill University in 1953, receiving his Doctorate in Medicine. He held the Chief of Staff position with Greater Niagara General Hospital from 1973 to 1988 and was a Coroner in the Niagara Region for many years. He was a Member of Council of the College of Physicians and Surgeons from 1980 to 1988 and received an Honorary Life Membership with Ontario Medical Association and Canadian Medical Association. He was also a Past President of Community Concerts and a Past President of the Canadian Club. A funeral service was held at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Fonthill on Wednesday, February 8 with Canon David Browning officiating. Interment followed in Fonthill Cemetery. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, Research Unit, The Niagara Symphony Orchestra or Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Fonthill through the offices of Hetherington Deans Funeral Chapel or James L.
