ALDO BERTI Passed away peacefully at Holy Family Nursing Home on February 17, 2006, at the age of 85 years. Aldo was the devoted husband of Lina (nee Unti) for 58 years; loved father of Romeo (Joanne) and Sandra Cerqueira (Albert); and proud Nonno of Anthony and Daniel Cerqueira. He also leaves to mourn his sister-in-law Fanni Piacentini (Giancarlo), of Italy; his cousins, Irma Tintori (late Agostino), Laura Gowerluk (Kelly) and Vico Fabri. He was predeceased by his sister Alma Dami (late Silvio). Aldo was born in La Toscana, where he met and married his beloved Lina. In 1948, he said goodbye to his family and ventured on to Canada with high hopes for a better future. Aldo settled in Winnipeg, with Lina following him in 1949. Aldo and Lina raised their children with a strong sense of family, as he continued to be a hard-working and loyal employee of Weston Bakery until his retirement in 1983. His post-retirement days included tending to his vegetable garden, fine-tuning his wine, enjoying Lina's home cooking, and meeting up with friends at Polo Park Shopping Centre. Special thanks are extended to all staff on the 3rd floor of Holy Family Nursing Home for their loving care and to everyone for their visits, support and friendship. Funeral mass 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 21 at Holy Rosary Church with Rev. Fr. Sam Argenziano officiating. Committal will follow at the Queen of Heaven Mausoleum. Aldo was a good man, he financed my father Dave Cardinal for our home on Ross Avenue. We had a beautiful family supper at his home. I went to Hugh John Mcdonald with his son Romeo, may he rest in peace up in heaven with my father who passed in 2014 - Posted by: Don Cardinal (Worked with Aldo ) on: Aug 28, 2022
