Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLUKIAN PROCAK September 20, 1916 - February 16, 2006 A Celebration of Life Peacefully, but unexpectedly, at his own home, our cherished husband, father and uncle left us. Survived by his wife Maria (nee Jaremko); sons, Ihor and Borys; sister-in-law Stephanie Hewryk; nieces, Lydia (Matthew) Todhunter with daughter Victoria (Edmonton), Maria (Dr. Leo) Chirovsky with son Mark and daughter Christina (New York); nephews, Ihor and Orest (Jennifer) Hewryk and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces and extended family in Canada, U.S.A. and Ukraine. Predeceased by Mark Hewryk (nephew) and brother and sisters-in-law Hewryk. Lukian was born into a family of five brothers and raised by his grandparents (in Selo Kropivnah, Zolochiw, Ukraine). The family fought in the underground against the occupiers and was torn and scattered apart by the trials and tribulations of the war. He ended up in post war Germany, taking courses at various universities and having the youthful post war best time of his life. He then came to his new country, Canada, where he met and married his wife Maria (and of course joined the Highland Military Reserve, in his new country). His first job in Canada was in the Bisset Gold Mine, and after, he was involved in various business ventures, and worked for others, retiring at the age of 75, and then un-retiring till 85 years. He loved Old Winnipeg and its ethnic blend of people (he spoke five languages). With his beautiful blue eyes twinkling, he was generous with everyone to a fault, including his extended family in the Ukraine. One of the high points of his life was visiting the independent Ukraine (1992) and seeing them. He was involved in the Ukrainian community of Winnipeg, serving on the boards of Ukrainian Canadian Congress, St. Nicholas Mutual Benefit and Ukrainian Catholic Brotherhood. He was optimistic and energetic, with a love of family, work and community. In his later years, he loved spending time with his family and we love and miss him very much. Special thanks to his personal physician, Dr. George Korol. Special thanks to the Knysh Brothers Funeral Chapel. Prayers will be Wednesday, February 22 at 7:00 p.m., St. Volodymyr and Olga Cathedral (114 McGregor). Funeral to be held Thursday, February 23 at 10:00 a.m.
