HEINZ ZURSTEGGE Heinz Zurstegge passed away peacefully on March 16, 2006 after a lengthy illness. Heinz will be missed greatly by his loving wife Christa of almost 47 years. His loving son Stefan who left us in 1996, predeceased him. He leaves to mourn his brothers, Rudolf (Gertrude), Engelbert (Vroni); brother-in-law Theo Stoehler (Marga); and nephews, Robert Zurstegge (Lora Leigh) and Jeff Stoehler (Andrea) and many nephews, nieces and relatives in Germany. Also predeceased by his parents, Engelbert and Josefa; brothers, Bernard and August; and sister Elizabeth. Heinz was born in Germany on July 16, 1937. He immigrated to Canada in 1958 where he started his career as a painter in Winnipeg. He married Christa in 1959 and they had their only son in 1972. Heinz started his own business with his brother Rudolf in 1981 and prospered until his retirement in 1997. Heinz loved watching all sports but enjoyed playing golf, curling, bowling and going fishing. He spent many hours at the West Kildonan Curling Club serving as President in 1978. He spent many summers at Dorothy Lake with friends and family and is fondly remembered by all of the kids at the lake as the guy who would take them up and down the lake in the boat until he was so sunburned he had to take a break. Heinz will always be remembered as being very kind, giving and generous with a wonderful sense of humour. Friends may join family for a memorial service at Voyage Funeral Home, 220 Hespeler at Henderson Hwy. at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 21 with a viewing at 10:30 a.m. Reception to follow.
