Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLAUFEY THORVALDSON (nee LIFMAN) October 4, 1918 April 3, 2006 In her 88th year upon reaching the limit of her human endurance Laufey passed peacefully from this world. This was a woman who lived to squeeze the sweetest juice from the fruit of life in spite of the many bitter flavours emanating from its core. These would include the tragic Second World War loss of her only brother Baldur in 1943, the sudden and premature passing of her husband Roy Epp in 1965 and the loss of her lasting soulmate Fred Thorvaldson in 1989. Laufey was also predeceased by her parents, Bjarnthor and Margaret Lifman; her sister Solberg and brother-in-law Ted Olafson, her sister Bergthora and brother-in-law Theo Urry, her sister Stefania and brother-in-law Roy Galbraith, her brother-in-law Jim Miller, as well as in-laws, Mike and Jean Kozub. She is survived by one sister Margaret Miller and special in-law Marion Wakefield. Left to cherish her memory are her only son Jeffrey Epp, joined by Colleen and Tanner whom she embraced unconditionally with her typical loving spirit; her unquestionable pride and joy, the sons of her son: The Boys ; Brock (Davian), Ryan (Sophia) and Darrell (Cherissa) along with their mother Geraldine, all of whom meant the world to her. And of course there are the numerous nieces and nephews of the Lifman clan, a name that no longer exists, but a group of people that share a spirit that will give the name a lasting legacy nevertheless. Laufey's sense of spirituality was born from the faith she believed God has in the human condition; of the compassion we should feel for one another, and of the faith we should maintain in one another as the face of God. With that, one hopes He has nodded His approval toward her. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the nurses, heath care and facility staff of the entire Arborg and District Heath Centre for the compassion and attentiveness extended to Laufey over the past few years. Laufey was most appreciative of all of your efforts and spoke affectionately of all of you on many occasions. There will be no public memorial for Laufey, just a simple gathering of family at a later time. For those family and friends wishing to make a donation in her memory, consider the Arborg and District Heath Centre Foundation for the construction of Arborg's new Assisted Living Complex. Arborg (MacKenzie) Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
