Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFLORENCE JEAN POLLOCK Florence Jean Pollock (commonly known as Jean) passed away June 28, 2006 after many years of struggle with Parkinson's Disease and other health problems. Jean was the eldest daughter of William C. Gardiner and Annie L. Gardiner (Thom) and was born at Carman, MB, February 16, 1927. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, William H. Pollock; their son Kerry D. Pollock (Darlene); her sister Alice W. McEachern (Eldon); her nephews Gary (Ann), Calvin (Faye), Allen, Arden and Dean (Julie); her cousin Lyda Castagne; other relatives in the United States and the loving members of our Nottingham family Leona, Stan, Mary and Joe. Jean grew up on the farm at Sperling, MB, where she attended school and moved with the family to Carman in the 1940's. After completing high school she attended Success Business College and was later employed in the law office of W. J. Rinn at Carman. Jean married William H. Pollock on August 16, 1952 and shortly after they were transferred to Watson, SK, where she worked in a general store for two and a half years. Another transfer took Jean and Bill to Winnipeg in March, 1955 where they have resided since. Their only son, Kerry, was born in Winnipeg in July, 1955. Jean worked for several years beginning in the early 1970's as Volunteer Office Coordinator for the Manitoba Naturalists Society, where she developed many life long friendships among the volunteer staff. She retired in 1985. Jean was a loving and devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother and gracious friend who enjoyed gardening, hiking, travel and the company of friends. She spent many happy hours in her garden and flower beds. She was a life long country music fan and has a vast collection of autographs from many of the great country music artists (Hank Williams, Ernest Tubb, Wilf Carter, Hank Snow, Patsy Cline to name a few). Her dream was to one day visit Nashville, Tennesse and this was accomplished in September, 1991. Her diary noted here I am in Nashville, the home of country music and I must have died and gone to Hillbilly Heaven . Our families heartfelt thanks to the nursing staff at Parkview Place for the care, concern and compassion they have shown Jean in the last four months. At Jean's request cremation has taken place and there will be no formal funeral. Contributions in Jean's memory to the Manitoba Naturalists Society, 401 - 63 Albert St., Winnipeg, MB, R3B 1G4 or a charity of your choice will be appreciated. No flowers please. When I come to the end of the road, And the Sun has set for me, I want no rites in a gloom filled room, Why cry for a soul set free? Miss me a little, but not too long, And not with your head bowed low, Remember the good times we once shared, Miss me - but let me go!! Wheeler Funeral Chapel, 211 Regent Ave., 224 - 1525, in care of arrangements.
