HELEN MARGARET RAWSTHORNE (nee HAWKES) Passed away on Wednesday June 28, 2006 at Nanaimo General Hospital of respiratory illness. Dearly beloved wife of Roland R. Rawsthorne, mother of Brian Rawsthorne and Tyler Rawsthorne (deceased) and sister to Charles Hawkes. Helen was born at Chesterfield Inlet, N.W.T. on April 26, 1937, the first non-native baby to be born north of the Arctic Circle. Her early life was spent in Alberta and Manitoba before moving with Roland to Gabriola Island for the last 20 years. She was a joy to her family and friends. A viewing will be held prior to the service. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, July 5, 2006 at 2:00 at First Memorial Funeral Services, 1720 Bowen Road, Nanaimo, BC.
