STEWART GRANGER PUGH On July 10, 2006, Stewart Granger Pugh died at the Victoria Hospital. He was born on the 10th of June, 1913 in Winnipeg, son of the late Frederick Pugh and Charlotte Pugh, nee Wilson. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Eva Mary, nee Adamson in 2001 and by his sister Margaret in 1999. Stewart attended St. John's Anglican School and in 1939, graduated from the University of Manitoba with a degree in agriculture. He had a varied and interesting life. He worked for Canadian Industries Limited (CIL) in Saskatoon and Regina. Following the end of hostilities, he returned to Winnipeg as Western Sales Manager, Agricultural Chemicals, a division of CIL. From 1950 to 1965 he was employed by Chipman Chemicals Ltd., ending his career there as Western Manager. Stewart's last position, 1965 to 1973, was as Assistant Director of Libraries, University of Manitoba. He reorganized the management of the libraries and was also involved on behalf of the University, in union negotiations. In 1975 Stewart and Eva Mary moved to Victoria, BC, where they spent many happy days sailing the coastal waters. They returned to Winnipeg in 1997. In addition to his professional positions, Stewart also invested in the agricultural industry. From 1952 to 1975 he owned farm land in St. Norbert, MB where he was a registered pedigreed grain seed grower. In this work he was always grateful for the assistance of Gordon Zosick who worked tirelessly in the operation of the business. Stewart's remains are to be cremated and the ashes interred in the Adamson family plot in St. John's Cathedral Cemetery.
