DORA GERALDINE THORLAKSON (Breckman) Geraldine Thorlakson passed away in Winnipeg on August 5, 2006. She was born September 22, 1915 in Lundar, MB and was predeceased by her parents, Einvardur and Halldora (Einarson) Breckman; brothers, Jon and Gordon Breckman; and her spouses, Valgeir Thorlakson and Ivan Gallup. Geraldine is survived by her children, Alan (Roma), Gordon (Marilyn), Karen (Len Vopnfjord) and David (Terry); 11 grandchildren and two stepgrandsons, 14 great-grandchildren and one stepgreat-granddaughter; brother Ed Breckman, Ruth Breckman and Karen Thorlakson. Geraldine worked raising her family and held various jobs before returning to formal education, eventually attaining three bachelor's degrees and a Master of Education and taught at Peguis and Camperville in Manitoba. She also participated in many community and cultural organizations including the Royal Canadian Legion Auxiliary and the Icelandic National League of North America. Geraldine moved from Manitoba to BC following retirement, and spent several winters in Arizona, meeting new friends and tackling ongoing adventures. Cremation has taken place and a family service will be held on September 9 at Lundar, MB. In lieu of floral tributes, memorial donations to Logberg-Heimskringla, 100-283 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3B 2B5, or a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated. neil bardal inc. 949-2200
