Date of Passing: Nov 12, 2006
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDR. DEV PRAKASH, M.D., F.R.C.S., EDIN. 1935 2006 Quietly at his home, Dev passed away on Sunday, November 12, 2006. Dev will be sadly missed by his three children, Lorena, Neil, and Tara and his wife of 41 years, Wendy. He also leaves two beautiful grand-children, Jesse and Jordan, as well as several extended family members located in India and the U.S., including a sister, Bai and two brothers, Prem and Anand. At the age of 21, he was the youngest physician to become a member at the Royal College of Surgeons established in 1505 in Edinburgh, Scotland, where he began his 50 year career as a Doctor. During these years, he touched and saved many lives. Dev refused to wear the Doctor's white lab coat, preferring to greet patients dressed very casually and could be found easing a child's fears by sitting on the floor pushing around a toy. He was most often described as so kind and so gentle. At the same time, he was a highly intellectual man with a brilliant mind. As a young child, he lost his father, and a few years ago, he was predeceased by his mother Charan Sakhi Gupta. Dev was devoted to the Radhaosami faith, and practiced its teachings through meditation and in his philosophy of life. Material possessions held no interest to him, and he lived in a very simple manner. Dad/Dev, we wish you peace and will miss you dearly. An open house for family and friends will be held on Saturday, November 18 at 300 Columbia Drive, Whyte Ridge from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Dr. Prakash's arrangements have been entrusted to the Family Owned Funeral Chapel of: WOJCIK'S ALL BELIEFS FAITHS FUNERAL CHAPEL CREMATORIUM 897 4665

My condolences to Dr Prakash's family. I read this with a very heavy heart and am deeply saddened by his passing. I met Dr Prakash in the mid 1970s during a bus strike in Winnipeg when he very graciously offered me a ride. We weren't talking for long, when I found myself absolutely amazed by his philosophies and perspective on things. It prompted me to ask him what he did for a living. He told me he was a physician and I knew that very second that he was from that moment on, my doctor. I'm not somebody who typically likes or trusts doctors, but he was the exception I trusted him absolutely, deeply respected him and I genuinely liked him as a person. He was my doctor until he sold his practice and started doing home visits, which was around the time that I left Winnipeg. I've thought of him many times over the years and will always be grateful for his care on all levels. He was truly an amazing man and amazing physician. The world has lost someone absolutely brilliant. - Posted by: Chris Thiessen (Patient) on: Mar 12, 2016
