Gary was a great mentor to me, he could always make light of any situation, freely shared his knowledge, wisdom and always had a good joke "the dirtier the better!" he used to say! His family was at the heart of all he did, weather working far out of town at lengths and taking any days or weekends off to drive home to see his wonderful family. On a few of the trips I had been humbly invited to join, where I first met Robin, Sarah, Erica and Dean (or Dino), and in time helped in their move to Calgary AB from just north of Winnipeg MB. When Gary and his family where living in Calgary I spent most of my time working with Gary as my Foreman and off/down time I would spend time with him, Dino and the girls, or is look after the kids so Gary and Robin could spend time together. I feel honoured to have spent time with Gary and everyone of his amazing family members or close friends. I followed this man for 2 years straight, learning all I could, in his leadership, many skills with people or politics and always teaching quality over quantity. Had I not been injured I would have not lost touch with him and his family, but I know that I found an amazing friend that inspired the best and instilled such wisdom in my life that it will never be forgotten and I will continue to share his memory with the highest regard to all walks of life as he would have done! It's not the length of time a light shines, it's how brightly it shines out that effects us all in the end, return back to the sun an stars, to be our guiding light once again and warmth for our souls. - Posted by: Kipp (Friend and co-worker) on: Apr 23, 2016

My father "Gary Eric Preston" passed away when I was only 10 years old and now I'm 18 years old and about to have a child in April, I miss my dad everyday and it hasn't been easy for me or my family without him here. There have been times where I wanted to give up and break down crying but I never did because I know my dad was always with me in my heart through every obstacle I had to overcome.. I miss you dad and love you <3 - Posted by: Erica Preston (Second oldest daughter ) on: Jan 15, 2014
