OLGA RADOMSKY At 2:00 p.m. January 29, 2007, Olga Radomsky died at the St. Boniface Hospital. Baba is sadly missed and will be lovingly remembered by her children Kim, Kevin and Kyle; her children-in-law Andrew, Christelle and Laura; her grandchildren Jessica, Ciel and Matthew. She was predeceased by her parents Nicholai and Sophie Bockanesky and by her brothers Walter and Joseph. Olga was born October 16, 1934 in Luzan, Alberta, spending her early years in various rural communities nearby. As a child she attended Ukrainian school where she excelled in traditional dancing. In her youth she took an active role in the Girl Guides, and it was during this period that she first developed her love of animals. In 1951 her family moved to Edmonton where, in May 1956, she married Ken Radomsky and settled into the role of wife and mother. While raising her children Olga stressed the importance of their Ukrainian heritage teaching them, for example, the intricate art of Easter egg decorating and the joys of Ukrainian cooking. She was a dedicated band supporter, actively involved in fundraising, chaperoning and attending her children's performances. In 1974 the family moved to Winnipeg where she continued to make new friends and acquaintances. In 1989 circumstances required that the family move to White Rock, but she always thought of Winnipeg as her home and returned in 1999 after separating from Ken. No longer able to curl due to arthritis, she now engaged in mostly sedentary actives such as gardening, sewing, and making crafts. She doted on her grandchildren, treating them to sleepovers, shopping trips and special concerts or events. In her later years, Olga was plagued with ill health; starting with a heart valve replacement in 1999 - but she faced her challenges with the characteristic stubbornness that marked the passage of her life. The family would like to thank Dr. Gillian Breckman, Drs. Mink and Siddiqui, and the entire MICU nursing staff at St. Boniface Hospital. A Funeral Rite will be celebrated on Friday. February 2 at 10:00 a.m. at Ukrainian Orthodox Metropolitan Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, 1175 Main Street. There will be an interment at Brookside Cemetery. In lieu in flowers, donations may be made in Olga's memory to either the Winnipeg Humane Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba VICHENAYA PAMYAT Forever Remembered CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
