GRIETJE POITRAS Mrs. Grietje Poitras peacefully passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2007 at the Beausejour Hospital, Grietje Poitras, at the age of 83 years. Grietje was born on November 5, 1923 in Delfzijl, Holland to Jan and Greisen Kappen. She was one of nine children. She met and married Raymond Poitras during the war and came to Woodridge, MB, Canada as a war bride after the war. Grietje and Ray lived first in Woodridge with their two children and then later moved to Winnipeg, MB. Grietje's joy in life was her family. She enjoyed preparing many big family dinners where there was always lots of food and desserts to enjoy. She also loved sharing her stories about her childhood in Holland. Grietje's last few months of her life were spent out here in Beausejour with her family. Left to cherish her memory is her loving son Arthur (Judy); her two grandchildren, Kathy Luszeck (Alan), Ben Poitras (Lindsey) and her five great-grandchildren, Austin, Ariana, Kolton, Kirsten and Jade. She also leaves behind her daughter Edith Harper (Griff) of Parkesville, B.C. and also family in Holland. According to her wishes, cremation has taken place.
