Prygrocki (nee Mária Antonia Erzsébet Gyulai), aged 58, of Honolulu, Hawaii, died on Sunday, March 11, 2007 after living with breast cancer for eight years. Maria was born in Budapest, Hungary on November 7, 1948 and moved to Winnipeg in 1957. She received her Bachelor of Science degree with a major in microbiology from the University of Manitoba in 1973. She married her first husband, Gregory Prygrocki, on February 15, 1969. They had one child, Catherine Elizabeth. Maria moved to Honolulu in 1980 and was employed by Leahi Hospital. Since 1990, Maria was the Supervisor of Oncology Data in the Medical Records Department at Kuakini Medical Center where she maintained the oncology data registry. She was a contributor to breast cancer research that has been published in medical journals including The Lancet and the International Journal of Radiation Oncology, Biology Physics. Maria married her second husband, Alexander Grantz, Jr., in Honolulu on February 15, 1986. They were married for seven years. Maria is survived by her father, Craig Dunhill (nee Kálmán Gyulai), her sister, Helen Fearman, her brother, Richard Dunhill, her daughter, Catherine Brown, Esq., her son-in-law, Dr. Stephen Brown, her granddaughter, Gwendolyn Brown, her nieces, Jessica Fearman, Greta Fearman, Andrea Dunhill and Jennifer Dunhill, her cousins, John Dvorak and Marta Dvorak, and all her friends and colleagues at Kuakini Medical Center. Maria was predeceased by her mother, Helen Dunhill (nee Ilona Ollé). On Maria's behalf, her family would like to extend a special thank you to Maria's dear friends, Lori Kaneshige and Debbie Sekine. The family would also like to thank the kind and caring staff at St. Francis Hospice, Ewa Beach. A memorial service will be held at the Kuakini Medical Center Chapel, 347 North Kuakini Street, Honolulu, Hawaii, on Tuesday, March 13, 2007 at 4:00 p.m. All are welcome. Donations in Maria's memory may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation Hawaii Affiliate.
