ELAINE THORNHILL (nee QUIRING) Peacefully on March 17, 2007, at the age of 50 years, Elaine went to be with our Lord and Saviour in Heaven after a brave struggle with cancer. She was predeceased by her father Frank Quiring, and will be lovingly remembered by husband Rob; daughters, Stephanie and Andrea; her mom Nettie Quiring; sister Karen Taylor (Dave); and brother Brian Quiring (Dorothy) of Vernon, BC. She will be missed by everyone who knew her. Elaine was born and lived her entire life in Winnipeg. Many a summer day, Elaine could be found sunbathing at the family cottage in Arnes, MB. She found the cottage to be a great refuge from the hustle and bustle of city life. She married Rob on August 26, 1978, the same year she graduated as a Registered Nurse. Her career in nursing lasted almost 30 years, serving at Misericordia Hospital, Golden West Centennial Lodge, and St. Boniface Hospital. Most recently, she worked at the University of Manitoba with 2nd year nursing students. She had such a passion for her students as she introduced them to hands on nursing care. Amongst Elaine's passions were reading, gardening, and her family. She was a fantastic mother and wife. She had a huge heart and a smile to match. Our family would like to thank all the staff at Cancer Care Manitoba and Health Sciences Centre Ward GA5 for their loving care. Special thanks goes to the staff at Riverview Health Care 3 East Palliative Unit. Your extraordinary care for Elaine made her final weeks very peaceful and comfortable. A memorial service will be held on March 22, 2007, at Winnipeg Evangelical Free Church, 500 Lagimodiere Blvd., at 2:00 p.m. Flowers are gratefully declined. If you wish, donations can be made to Cancer Care Manitoba in Elaine's memory. Care and arrangements are entrusted to Glen Lawn Funeral Home. Glen Lawn Funeral Home 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. 982-7550
