Remaining to forever cherish Maria's memory are her 10 children, Judite Sousa (Joao), Maria de Lourdes Bergantim (Ilidio), Matilde Bergantim (José), Armando Camara (Helena), Juliana Branco (Jorge), Idalina Barbosa (Fernando), Manuel Ant nio Camara (Barbara), Jorge Camara (Charlene), Mario Camara (Conçeiçao), and Esmeralda Lourenco (Ceasar); 23 great-grandchildren; 24 grandchildren; as well as extended family, friends and caregivers. She was predeceased by her loving husband Manuel, of 59 years of marriage; daughter Romana, and son-in-law Jorge Branco. Born on November 22, 1922 to José Martins and Maria Terceira in Sao Miguel, Açores, Maria married Manuel Camara in 1942 and raised their 10 children in Winnipeg. The most important task in Maria José's life was raising her children, whom she dearly loved. Among her greatest enjoyments were spending time with her grandchildren, baking, sewing and crocheting which she loved to share with everyone. She had a big heart and a smile to match. Maria José was deeply loved and her wonderful presence will be profoundly missed by all who loved her. Prayers will be held Thursday, March 22 at 7:00 p.m. in the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 181 Austin Street North. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, March 23 at 10:00 a.m. also in the Church, with Rev. Fr. José Eduardo Medeiros, presiding. Interment will follow in Assumption Cemetery, 3990 Portage Avenue. A sincere thank you is extended to the staff at Concordia Hospital and St. Joseph's Residence for their care, kindness and compassion. It broke our hearts to lose you; however, you did not go alone. Part of us went with you, the day God called you home. Feriu o nosso coraçao perder-te; mas tu nao vás s . Parte de n s vai contigo, no dia em que Deus te chamou á tua eterna morada.
