Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLILLIAN ELIZABETH ROSEMARIE PURSAGA September 22, 1954 - March 29, 2007 Each of her names had a special meaning to her, and she was special to us! She fought to live and did so for two years longer than the doctors thought she would. She let go of her earthly life on March 29 and took hold of Jesus' hand and walked through the gates of Heaven to live her eternal life. She leaves to mourn her, her brother Alex, her sister-in-love Karen, nieces and nephews, Janine, Joyanne, Justin, Jared and many friends. Lillian was predeceased by her father John and her mother Elsie. Lillian was born and raised in the North End of Winnipeg and attended school at Strathcona, Aberdeen, Isaac Newton and St. John's. She received her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Manitoba in 1975. She had her first paying job as a time scorekeeper at the University of Manitoba basketball games and then worked at Eaton's in the accounts payable department. She worked for Statistics Canada and the Post Office before joining Veteran's Affairs where she worked for the next 27 years. For most of her working years she was also a dedicated volunteer. This included the United Way, various committees of the Public Services Alliance of Canada, CancerCare, and the Assiniboine Park Zoo. Lillian adopted scores of animals there and as such her name appears on many a plaque throughout the zoo. Lillian and her family want to sincerely thank all the doctors and nurses at St. Boniface Hospital, CancerCare, the Carman Hospital and finally at Riverview Centre. She sends a wink to Dr. Clayden, with whom she always had a special doctor/patient relationship. You all made this whole experience less traumatic. Lillian was very grateful for her home church family at Winnipeg Evangelical Free Church, who supported her in prayer and with rides to cancer treatments, cards, gifts and caring calls while she went through this long ordeal. God sent your love to all of us every time that you befriended, loved and helped Lillian in so many ways. Thank you. It is her wish that any donation be made to: Winnipeg Evangelical Free Church Building Project, 500 Lagimodiere Blvd., Winnipeg, MB R2J 4J1 (253-8464) or to the Colorectal Cancer Association of Canada. Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, April 2, Winnipeg Evangelical Free Church, 500 Lagimodiere Blvd. Viewing will be held one half hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. Arrangements entrusted to: GLEN LAWN FUNERAL HOME 455 LAGIMODIERE BLVD. 982-7550

I went to Strathcona, Aberdeen and St. John's High School with Lillian and was sad to see her obiturary. I remember her as being a quiet, easy going girl with her dark hair, with a select group of friends. I always liked her. My regrets to the family. My maiden name is Mytruk, and I grew up on Pritchard Ave. with 4 other brothers and sisters. - Posted by: Pat Bencharski (Acquaintance) on: Mar 31, 2007
