FRANK JOSEPH NOVAK It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of our much beloved father and grandfather Frank, on Monday, April 9, 2007, at the St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 86. He was predeceased in 1997 by Bertha, his treasured wife of 49 years, and just recently by his two younger brothers. He leaves to cherish his memory his two daughters, Vera and husband Richard, and Rose Mary and husband Ian and his four granddaughters, Ashleigh (Lev), Courtney, Katryna and Genevieve, and numerous friends and relatives in Canada and the Czech Republic. Dad was born in Vintirov, Czechoslovakia on December 13, 1920. Dad touched the lives of all who knew him. Everywhere you went with him, someone would recognize him and stop to say hello. Dad was very much an entrepreneur and never afraid to take risks. Arriving as a foreigner in a strange country, he used his skills to establish himself in his adopted community of St. Pierre-Jolys. He operated several businesses and was active in the community, while sitting on many Board of Directors. Dad loved life. He enjoyed music and literature, and was a lover of animals. He had a passion for taking long walks, travelling and gardening, for which he and Bertha won numerous awards. Most of all Dad loved spending time with his wife Bertha, two daughters and friends. Dad was an extremely independent man who strived to maintain normalcy in his life despite his deteriorating health. Dad, we are so proud of you and we will miss you so much! The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to Sister Yolande Marion for her friendship, support and compassionate care. The family also wishes to thank the staff in the Dialysis Unit at the St. Boniface Hospital for their kind, attentive medical care during the many years that he was a patient there. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 13, 2007, at Mary Mother of the Church at 85 Kirkbridge Drive. Interment of the cremated remains will take place at a later date in the St. Pierre-Jolys Parish Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully asks that those who wish send a donation in his memory to the Winnipeg Humane Society, CancerCare Manitoba, or the Kidney Foundation of Canada, Manitoba Branch.
