ANTHONY PRASIAZNUIK (PRAZNUIK) Peacefully on April 17, 2007 at Victoria Hospital, after a prolonged illness, Tony passed away two months short of his 90th birthday. Tony was predeceased by his father and mom, John and Katherine; brothers, William and Joseph, and sister Anne. He is survived by Lena, his wife of 55 years; daughter Janet (Barry Iverson) and their children, Adam and Lee of Edmonton, AB, and son Ken (Pam) of Prairie Grove, MB. Tony was born in Fraserwood, MB and lived his childhood years in Transcona where he attended school and participated in team sports. In 1933 Tony's family moved to Lorette West. There he worked on the family farm with his father and brothers. After working in the cordite munitions plant, Tony served in the Canadian Army. After the war, Tony met the love of his life, Lena. Together they purchased a farm in Prairie Grove, MB. At the same time, Tony went to work for the Canadian National Railways as a railway carman. He retired at age 62 after spending over 30 years at the railway. Tony took great pride in his gardens and yard which he worked at tirelessly. He was also an accomplished woodworker and enjoyed making furniture. Tony took an active role in his community. He was involved in amateur sport as a player, coach and umpire. He was a past school board member and a lifelong member of Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. Above all else, Tony loved his family and was prepared to make any sacrifice for them. We will miss his strength, determination and wisdom.
