SHIRLEY BERNICE BROWN It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Shirley Bernice Brown. Shirley passed away peacefully in the Palliative Care Unit at the Riverview Health Centre April 22, 2007 at the age of 74. She is survived by her son Reg Brown (Sharon); her daughter Ainsley Chitwood (Greg), and their father Gerald Brown. Shirley worked for the Canadian National Railway for several years. She and Gerald lived in several small towns before settling in the town of Wawanesa. Soon after, Shirley started work at the Wawanesa Mutual Insurance Company and through the years worked her way up to the position of Office Manager. After her retirement Shirley remained in Wawanesa until 1996 when she moved to Winnipeg. Shirley was an active member of the Rebekah Lodge for 42 years. She held many offices of distinction, serving as President of the Rebekah Assembly of Manitoba in 1995. Shirley always greatly enjoyed the annual Manitoba Assembly meetings held in Winnipeg each March and attended many of the International Assembly meetings. Shirley loved all animals, but dearest to her were dogs. One of her joys when visiting her daughter in Houston was to play with Hank, a golden retriever. The family would like to thank the Riverview Palliative Care Unit for caring for Shirley and keeping her comfortable in her final days. We also want to thank everyone who sent flowers, or called. At Shirley's request there will be no service. In lieu of flowers you are invited to make a donation in Shirley's memory to either the Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent St., Winnipeg, MB R2L 1X3, or CancerCare Manitoba, ON1160 - 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. Arrangements entrusted to: Chapel Lawn Funeral Home 885-9715
