JOHN PUSHKA On May 2, 2007, John Pushka passed away at the St. Boniface Hospital Palliative Care Ward, at the age of 87 years. John was born August 4, 1919 in the Ruthenia district in the RM of Rossburn, MB. John was married on September 29, 1945 to Olga Helen (Czornobay) at Holy Ghost Church, Manitoba. John was predeceased by his son John and by his brothers, Matt, Mike, Walter and Fred and his sisters Nettie and Ann. He is survived by his wife Olga, daughter Gail (Lawrence) Cherpako and grandson Lawson Cherpako; a sister Olive, numerous nieces, nephews and all other relatives. Prayers to be held Monday evening, May 7 at 7:00 p.m. at the Transcona Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day Street. Liturgy will be held Tuesday, May 8 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 400 Day Street with Fr. Michael Krochak officiating. Interment at Bird's Hill Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Nestor Pushka, Wilf Jacques, Grant Dolinski, Eleanore Petrasko, Celia Burnett and Lorne Mushumanski. Honourary pallbearer will be Denis Leveque. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Stroke Recovery Association of Manitoba. Donation cards available at the chapel. Transcona Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.
