FRANCES ANN (FRAN) RATCLIFFE 1954 2007 Frances Ann Ratcliffe of Calgary, tragically, suddenly and unexpectedly, surrounded by the wilderness she loved, passed away on Saturday, May 5, 2007 at the age of 52 years. Fran was born August 21, 1954 in North York, ON and grew up in Bissett and Snow Lake, MB. She graduated from the Snow Lake Collegiate and then attended the Health Sciences Centre School of Nursing, Class of 1976. Fran practiced the art of nursing: gynaecology, surgery, labour and delivery, general and forensic psychiatry specializing in forensic nursing. She moved to Calgary in the late 1970s and continued her career until 2000 when she fought, and won, a battle with ovarian cancer. Fran had a passion for nature and its beauty. She loved to go camping and travel throughout the world. She was a very devoted and loving friend who gave selflessly of herself to others, without regard of personal affairs. Fran found great companionship with her pets Bria, Yani, Tashiba and Cloe. She was a great advocate for the care and respect people deserve. She will be dearly missed by all those whose lives she touched. Fran is survived by her life partner Rosalinda Galante, and will be lovingly remembered by cousin Joy Bekker of Blind Bay, BC; chosen sister Linda Thompson of Water Valley, AB and her much loved family, friends and colleagues. She was predeceased by her adopted parents, Janet Lovina and Francis Joseph Ratcliffe. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
