Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALEXANDER LLOYD RATTE (RATT) July 20, 1933 - May 26, 2007 On May 26, 2007, at Riverview Health Centre, Alex, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend, passed away at the age of 73 years. Alex is survived by his companion of 13 years, Agnes White; sons, Richard (Brenda), Ken (Heidi), Burke (Gladys) and Darcy; sisters, Louise, Lorraine, Ethel and Linda (Andrew); grandchildren, Trista, Naomi, Nicholas, Maverick; and great-granddaughter Trinity. He also leaves to mourn many nieces, nephews and friends. Alex was predeceased by his parents Elliott Ratt and Mary Louise (nee George); brothers, Joe Ratte and Norman Ratte; sisters, Florence Olson and Annie Bird; and son Alex Jr. Alex was born at the Dynevor Indian Hospital in Selkirk, MB, and lived in Libau, MB, until the age of 12. His mother moved the family to East Selkirk after the death of his father Elliott, in 1944. He spent his young adult years in the East Selkirk area working on various farms and fishing the nearby lakes. In the early 60s he moved to Winnipeg, where he bartended full-time and drove cab part-time for over 30 years. During this time he raised his boys, always striving to keep family ties strong. He enjoyed a large circle of friends, treating them like family members. He was a proud member of AA for over 44 years, passing on his knowledge to whoever needed it. He was a strong role-model in this sense to both family and friends. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 31 at 2:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
