WAYNE RICHARD THOMAS September 4, 1946 - May 28, 2007 It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Wayne Thomas, husband, stepfather, brother, uncle and friend, at his residence with family and friends by his side. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Carole; stepsons, Colin (Tracy) Merkel, and Shaun (Tannis) Merkel; brothers and sisters, Reg (Cheryl) Thomas, Shirley (Raymond) Lavallee, Leslie (Diane) Thomas, Gail (Don) Green, and Lynda (Al) Bowman; mother-in-law Audrey Karpoff, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, an infinite number of friends, and his loyal four legged companions, Snowflake and Kelly . Wayne was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Winnie Thomas, and father-in-law Bert Karpoff. Wayne was born in Pine Falls, MB, and raised in Victoria Beach. After a few of life's adventures, he started Wayne's Backhoe Service , which he successfully operated for nearly 30 years. He was respected and admired by all his peers for his knowledge and experience on the job. Wayne's passions included traveling with Carole, spending time with family and friends, listening and dancing to country music, playing baseball, curling, watching sports, barbecuing, and, on occasion, the odd casino. His unique sense of humour, never ending gift of giving and heart of gold will be sadly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Victoria Beach will truly miss you, Wayne. Cremation has taken place. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at a memorial service being held in Wayne's honour on Monday, June 4 at 2:00 p.m. at the Victoria Beach Sports Club. In lieu of flowers, donations in Wayne's memory can be made to the Victoria Beach Sports Club, Victoria Beach, MB R0E 2C0. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
