WILLIAM GEORGE (JOE) POPE It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Joe Pope, on Sunday, June 17, 2007 at the Victoria Hospital, with his family at his side. Joe's memory will be forever cherished by his loving wife and soulmate Angeline; daughter Susan (Dennis), grandchildren, Candice and Scott; daughter Jaqueline (Mike), grandchildren, Kate and Robert; son Gordon (Pam), grandchildren, Jordan, Alyssa and Braeden; sister Doris; brother Jack (Margaret); sisters-in-law, Bette and Susan (Tony), and brother-in-law Bobby (Olive) all residing in the United Kingdom, as well as many nieces, nephews and good friends. Joe was born November 13, 1937 in Scotland and immigrated to Canada with his family in 1967. He was employed by Winnipeg Building and Decorating until his retirement in 2002. Joe's passion was his cottage at Fox Lake, Ontario where he spent many happy hours with his family and friends. We will all miss his terrific story telling and his wonderful sense of humour. His grandchildren loved being entertained by his stories about his years growing up in Scotland. In compliance with Joe's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held. The family would like to thank the entire staff of the I.C.U. at Victoria Hospital for their exceptional care. A special thank you also to Liz McKendry. In lieu of flowers, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Joe's memory to the Lung Association of Manitoba. I'm Free Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free I'm now following the path God laid for me, I took His hand when I heard Him call. I turned my back and left it all. I could not stay another day To laugh, to love, to work or play. Tasks left undone must stay that way, I found that peace at the close of day. If my parting has left a void, Then fill it with remembered joy, A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss. Oh yes, these things I too will miss. Be not burdened with times of sorrow. I wish you sunshine of tomorrow. My life's been full, I savoured much. Good friends, good times, a loved one's touch. Perhaps my time seemed all too brief. Don't lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your heart and share with me. God wanted me now, He set me free. Author unknown Rest in Peace Transcona Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.
