JOAN LEONA PUHACZ It is with great sadness of heart that we announce the passing of a dear beloved sister and aunt on September 28, 2007 at home, at the age of 76 years. Yet it is with great rejoicing that we celebrate her faith in Jesus as Lord and Savior. He now has her in his everlasting arms. Joan was taken suddenly and in a twinkling of an eye to be with the Lord. Joan was predeceased by her parents, William and Anna Puhacz of Beausejour and her sister Louise Pfeifer of Winnipeg. Left to mourn her passing are her brothers, Ed Puhacz of Montreal, PQ, George (Marge) Puhacz of Beausejour and sister Elizabeth (Bruce) Waldref of Surrey, B.C. Joan was a cherished aunt to many nieces and nephews and a second mom to niece Leslie Pfeifer-Galatas and her children, Terry and Billy Galatas with whom she spent most of her time during the past 23 years. Joan was born January 9, 1931 in Beausejour, MB. At a very young age she moved to Winnipeg and held various jobs. Her last job was 16 years with Canada Packers until she became ill. She suffered a long battle with depression and anxiety. It was with great faith that Joan was not only able to overcome but also to help many others in their time of need. She had many friends who will dearly miss her. Funeral service will be held Friday, October 5, 2007, 2:00 p.m. at Green Acres Funeral Home with public viewing at 1:30 p.m. Interment will follow in Green Acres Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Salvation Army 500-55 Donald St., Winnipeg, R3C 1L8.
