WILLIAM JOHN POLLOCK
Date of Passing: Nov 01, 2007
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLIAM JOHN POLLOCK Peacefully on November 1, 2007, William John Pollock of Lockport, Manitoba passed away at the age of 93 years. Dad will be joined with his dear wife Lena of 63 years and their infant son Brian. Bill will be sadly missed by his son Ken (Christine) Pollock, grandson Kerry (Candyce) Pollock and great-grandchildren Cara-Lee, Kort and Kaven all of Clandeboye, Manitoba. Grandpa leaves behind a legacy of success. His persistence and insight evoked numerous business deals. He built a successful business starting with one truck and shovels in the 1940s. In 1958 he expanded the gravel business to include concrete: the foundation which employs fourth generation great-grandchildren today. He arrived at 6:00 a.m. sharp every day well into his 80's and thrived on every moment. He went home for supper and to see his girl (there's no-one like my girl) and returned back to the shop until business was done. His passions were trucks and heavy equipment which was often the focal point of family dinners. A topic his twin great-grandson's particularly enjoyed. He adored his grand and great-grand-children. He encouraged them as well as many young people to go to university. Knowledge is Power. He read the newspaper from front to back into his 90's and was often our resource for breaking news. His wisdom is cherished and will be sadly missed. In his later years Bill and his girl enjoyed picking blueberries and mushrooms, his home and the condo in Florida . A special thank you to all the staff at Tudor House for their kindness and compassion during Dad's stay. Also to the doctors and staff at the Selkirk and District General Hospital. In accordance with Dad's wishes cremation has taken place. A private family service will be held. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations may be made in memory of Bill to Tudor House, 800 Manitoba Avenue, Selkirk, Manitoba R1A 2C9 or a charity of your choice. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
