Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJACOB (JACK) CHARLES KIRBY, QC On Thursday December 6, 2007 at Seven Oaks Hospital, Jack Kirby, beloved husband of Catherine passed away peacefully at the age of 92 years. In 2005 his loving daughter Barbara Robson predeceased Jack. Besides his loving wife Kay; Jack leaves to cherish his memory his daughter Joanne Covert, and grandchildren Carmen, Clark (Ben and Sara), Christine (Celina) and granddaughter Victoria Robson. Jack was born in Winnipeg where he received his early education. He attended both St. John's College and Manitoba Law School and graduated with Bachelor degrees in the Arts and Law granted by the University of Manitoba. In 1941 Jack was called to the bar after articling with Clive J. MacLeod, QC. During the Second World War Jack served in Northern Europe with the Canadian Infantry from 1942 to 1946. On conclusion of hostilities he was discharged with the rank of captain and returned to practice law in Winnipeg. He was a past president of the Manitoba Bar Association, a member of the Manitoba council of the Canadian Bar Association, a member of the Medico-Legal Association and a former bencher of the Law Society of Manitoba. In later years Jack served as Master of Fort Osborne Masonic Lodge and was a member of Ancient Landmark Lodge, Khartum Temple of the Shrine and concordant bodies. A celebration of Jack's life will be held on Tuesday December 11, 2007 at Fred Douglas Place located at 333 Vaughan Street 2nd floor at 2:00p.m., Reverend Richard Condo officiating. Flowers are graciously declined, although a donation to the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, PO Box 2248, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3C 4A6 or to a charity of ones choice in Jack's memory would be appreciated.
