TEKLE TIMMERMAN November 1, 1923 - December 17, 2007 Mercifully, our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother was relieved of her worldly burdens and battle with cancer. She withstood the foe prayerfully, always feeling blessed to have the love of her family nearby. Mociute, as she had come to be called, was born in Lithuania in 1923. During the war years, Tekle was deported to a labour camp where she met her Dutch husband John. After starting a family in Holland they moved to Canada and settled in Winnipeg. Mociute filled many roles in her lifetime. She was first and foremost a dedicated and loving mother. Along with caring for her children and grandchildren she found and fostered an entrepreneurial spirit. Beyond this, Tekle indulged her passion for her Lithuanian roots. Tekle embroidered Lithuanian costumes, was a perennial volunteer at the Lithuanian Folklorama Pavilion and inspired a love of the culture in her family. Tekle was a lifetime member of St. Casimir's Lithuanian Catholic Church until its closing. She continued to worship at St. Ignatius Church. Her faith translated into a love of people regardless of family, friend, or stranger. Along with her husband John, Tekle kept the doors of her home open and many enjoyed the fruits of their hospitality. This was especially true of the annual Boxing Day festivities where family and friends would sing and celebrate with great zest. In her passing, Tekle will be reunited with her husband John and her son Roland. Tekle will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Imeke (Jeff) and children John (Christine) and great-grandchild Mila, David and Charlene; her son Algirdas and children Stephanie and great-grandchild Zoe, Algirdis Jr. (Angelica) and great-grandchildren Austin and Anthony, and Daniel, special friend Kendra; her son Marijus (Jennifer) and child Lukas; as well as extended family in Lithuania. Motule brangi Ar kai liudejau, ar kai kentejau, Buvai guodeja, visu mus globeja. Dearest Mother When I was sad or endured any suffering You were a consolation and guardian to all. The family would like to thank Tekle's son Algis for his loving care of Mociute over the past few years. The family also thanks the staff at Deer Lodge Centre and St. Boniface Hospital for their care and support. Prayers will be said 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 19 at Korban Funeral Chapel, 907 Main St. Funeral Mass will take place 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 20 at St. Ignatius Roman Catholic Church, 255 Stafford St. with Fr. Gerry McDougall officiating. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba. KORBAN FUNERAL CHAPEL 956-2193
