RUTH RUSTON BULL (1915 - 2007) Ruth Ruston Bull (nee Flanders) passed away peacefully at her beloved home on Coles Bay, North Saanich, BC, on December 22, 2007, in her 93rd year, surrounded by family and the Christmas music she so cherished. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on November 22, 1915, she was predeceased by her husbands, Norman Elwick and Roland Bull and companion Bruce Sangster. She is survived by her children John, Daphne and Chris Elwick, six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and many cousins, nieces and nephews across Canada and abroad. During her lifetime, Ruth volunteered with and contributed to several organizations and charities, including the Canadian Red Cross, the SPCA and the Boys' and Girls' Club. An accomplished pianist, she was a member of a number of choirs, including the Winnipeg Philharmonic and the CBC Women's Choir, and also performed as a soloist. She was a director of the Boys' and Girls' Club of Victoria, a patron of Brentwood College and a trustee of a charitable trust whose beneficiary is the Victoria Foundation. The family are especially grateful for the love and compassionate care given to Ruth by her caregiver, Grace Dequinon, over the past four years. We also wish to thank Dr. Ambrose Marsh, the staff of Beacon Community Services and the Victoria Hospice Society for the care and assistance they have provided. A memorial service will be held at a future date at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Sidney, BC. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent in Ruth's name to the Saanich Peninsula Hospital Foundation, 2166 Mount Newton Crossroads, Saanichton, BC V8M 2B2 (www.viha.ca).
