Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJURIJ (GEORGE) POTURICA Peacefully after a lengthy illness, Jurij Poturica, aged 84 years beloved father of Kristina and Ivan Poturica, passed away at the Grace Hospital on January 19, 2008. Jurij was born in Croatia on December 22, 1923, and came to Canada in 1957. He was retired in 1985 from Dominion Tanners where he worked as a splitter and machinist. In his past years he enjoyed tending the barbeque for picnics at the Croatian Community Centre. He loved to visit the Croatia Pavilion with his grandchildren. Jurij enjoyed playing the accordion and cooking for his family and friends. Besides his daughter, Kristina and her partner Gavin and son, Ivan his wife Tanis, grandson Jason and granddaughter Erin; he will be missed by his brother Mijo, sister Ljuba and their extended families in Croatia, Europe and the United States, his sister-in-law Nada Frketic and her husband Tona, brother-in-law Joza Vranic, sister-in-law Maria Buric and their extended families in Canada and Croatia. He was predeceased by his wife Ljubica, parents and one brother Marko. Since suffering a stroke in 2004 Jurij resided at Deer Lodge Centre on Lodge 6. The family wishes to express sincere thanks to the caring staff of Deer Lodge Center 6 West, for all their kindness and efforts. Also thanks to the staff of the Grace Hospital for the care they extended. Prayers will be said on Wednesday, January 23 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Mass of Christian Burial will celebrated on Thursday, January 24 at 11:30 a.m. St. Nicholas Tavelich Roman Catholic Church, 2688 Main Street. Interment will follow in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens In lieu of flowers, donations in Jurij's memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 200 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB, R3L 0K6.
