S. C. PUROHIT On Saturday, January 19, 2008, our dada (grandpa) passed away. He will be truly missed by his devoted wife Lalita, loving son Bachu (Rekha), and his cherished granddaughters, Rupal, Sonal, Parusia, and Nimisha. Dada was born in Nar, India. In his adolescence he immigrated to East Africa where he resided with his young family in Nairobi, Kenya. From 1973 until present he was a resident of Winnipeg, MB. He was a passionate traveler who visited many parts of The United Kingdom and North America. Grandpa was a spiritual man. He had an iron will which enabled him to achieve all of his life's desires. He was a man of grace and class who was highly punctual. Dada was a handsome man who took great pride in his appearance. He was incredibly optimistic and therefore was rarely seen without a smile. As a devoted Hindu priest; he carried out his vocation with the highest degree of honour and sincerity. He was an unpretentious man who respected all people independent of their social standing. Thus he was a revered man by all those that knew him. His magnanimous nature created numerous lifelong friendships. His many leisure interests included socializing with his friends, enjoying East Indian cuisine, watching the Price is Right, playing the lotto, and spending time with the family dogs Maxx and Morris. His greatest joy was his granddaughters. He doted on them as they did on him. He witnessed every one of our monumental moments; trivial and grand. He took great pride in all of our achievements. Grandpa encouraged our individuality and fostered our unique talents. He was an unconditional father figure who gently guided us with his love and wisdom. Grandpa was a jovial man who had the gift of making you smile through even your most trying tribulations. He had an impeccable memory in which he used to engage people with great-animated story telling. He was an artist who would sit down with us and with delicate patience would teach us how to draw and make paper boats. He stressed the value of education, responsibility, and most importantly enjoying the gifts of life. My grandfather was an avid walker. He has taken over a million steps in his lifetime...his footprints has left an indelible mark on all of those that were blessed to have known him. Dada was a profound philosopher. He once told me that the most important things that are needed to sustain life like air cannot be bound...thus we could not impede his departure. His passing is a great loss to our family and he will forever be missed. As per his wishes a private funeral service has already taken place. Public prayer will be held from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 24, 2008, at the Hindu Temple, 854 Ellice Avenue. This is the Temple that he officiated at in 1979. In lieu of flowers a monetary donation can be made to the Purohit family towards a charity fund in India. om triyambakam yajamahe sugandhim pushtivardhanam uravaaruka miva bandhanaath mrutyur mokesheya mamrutat Arrangements entrusted to: GLEN LAWN FUNERAL HOME 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. 982-7550
