JOHN WILLIAM PURSE September 24, 1922 January 26, 2008 It is with sad hearts that we announce the death of our father, grandfather and great-grandfather, John (Jack) William Purse. John will be lovingly remembered by his sons, Eric (Joan) and John (Norma); son-in-law, Robert Baker; grandchildren, Michael (Lona), Michelle (Jeff) Maxwell, Trevor (Patricia) and Meaghan Baker; six great-grandchildren; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his wife of 59 years, Lorraine; his daughter Lorraine Baker; granddaughter, Kimberly Baker; brother James and sister Patricia Clarke. John was born in Manor, SK and moved to Winnipeg at a very young age to live with his grandparents. He joined the Canadian Navy and served on several British Royal Navy ships throughout the war. Upon discharge, he joined the Canadian Pacific Railway, retiring as a locomotive engineer. John loved spending time with his family and friends at home or at his cottage. As well, he enjoyed his time and participation as a past master of Norwood Masonic Lodge and Khartum Temple Shrine Oriental Band. In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family interment of ashes will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of choice. Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
