GERTRUDE ELEANORA CLARA PYDEE February 13, 1918 February 1, 2008 Gert was born at home an Armstrong Ave., across from Kildonan Park, Winnipeg, to parents, Anna and Paul Junghans. Gert was predeceased by her husband George in 1992 and closest friend Jean Sobie in 2007. Survived by her daughter Ginny (Rick), grandchildren Katie and Liam, sisters Irene Refeen, Dorothy Fent, brother Paul Young and many nieces and nephews. Her early childhood was spent on Hargrave Street across from the Eatons' Stables. When a teen, the family moved to the North End. She met and married George during the war and they moved into their first house in East Kildonan in 1949, just in time for the 1950 Flood. She proudly remained self sufficient in this home in amazingly good health until her hospitalization recently on January 24th. Gert really enjoyed her yard. She enjoyed gardening and would make beautiful corsages for special friends. Nothing pleased her more than sitting in her gazebo, admiring her garden or enjoying a cup of tea and a chat with good friends and neighbours over the years. Thanks to the nurses and doctors on 7A South St. Boniface Hospital for their kindness and care. A Memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 7 at 2:00 p.m. at Neil Bardal Inc. 984 Portage Avenue with entrance on Aubrey Street.
